Kashmiri Embroidery is very intricate and colorful. Kashmiri embroidery patterns are intricate with tiny designs, small detailing. Motifs used are taken from nature like bird motif, floral motif and designs like grapes, almonds etc. Embroidery comprises with vibrant colors both light and dark shades like Red, blue, yellow, green, white etc.
Stitches used in Kashmiri embroidery : Straight stitch, stem, satin, Buttonhole, Roman, Fly stitch. Occasionally Herringbone, open work, goldwork is done. In Kashmiri embroidery, Chain stitch worked using tambour needle is know as Zalakdozi.
